The Pajero

Here are some shots of our new car.
Mitsubishi Pajero '98 model
3.5 litre V6
Japanese import with 41,500KM on the clock.

Goes like a dream, every thing works.
57,000 Pula ($6,600 AUD) with everything transfered into our name and 12 months rego.

We replaced all the tyres as they where Ice tyres, not much call for them in Botswana!!!!!
Got Gooyear Wrangler All Terains for 1,600 Pula each so we are all ready to hit the game reserves.

Changed the engine oil as the oil in it was thin for the cold weather over there. With temps getting into the high 40s to low 50s I put a straight 40w shell oil into it.

We have started getting the 4WD esentials, tool kit, compressor, folding shovel etc..... and an esky of course, you need cool refreshments and the end of the day!

We now have proof..........

It is now proven beyond all doubt.......
We are NOT idiots.
As part of the paperwork for our resident status we undertook a medical examination.

Please ensure you read this thoroughly as all lines are important to showing how healthy we are, both body and mind.....

So, whenever people accuse either of us any of these issues, we will produce the certificate to prove otherwise......

The question is, Would you pass?

Sunset Cruise

We went on a sunset cruise from the Island Safari Lodge.
Good value at only 100 Pula each ($12) for 1 hour, we ended up been on it for nearly 2 hours.
The guide was a wealth of information about all the birds and plant life.
We went with our neighbours Simon & Vanessa.

One of the interesting things is that an 8 year drought had seen the river been completely dry. It receives its water from the Okovango Delta. This water comes from the upper areas of Africa, The Congo, Zambia etc and it takes 3 months to reach this far.
Green Backed Heron

Blackcrowned Night Heron

African Fish Eagle

Reed Cormorant

Lilly Runner

Just a few water lilies

We also saw our first Hippo............

Just a little bit disappointed that it was DEAD.
Well....... the smell of a bloated Hippo is something that words cannot do justice, use your imagination and then double it.

After the cruise we stayed for dinner and a few drinks at Island Safari Lodge.

A very memorable evening all round.
We recommend this to everyone, so relaxing with the perfectly smooth water, so many animals and water lillies.
