Good value at only 100 Pula each ($12) for 1 hour, we ended up been on it for nearly 2 hours.
The guide was a wealth of information about all the birds and plant life.
We went with our neighbours Simon & Vanessa.
One of the interesting things is that an 8 year drought had seen the river been completely dry. It receives its water from the Okovango Delta. This water comes from the upper areas of Africa, The Congo, Zambia etc and it takes 3 months to reach this far.
Green Backed Heron
Blackcrowned Night Heron
African Fish Eagle
Reed Cormorant
Lilly Runner
Just a few water lilies
We also saw our first Hippo............
Well....... the smell of a bloated Hippo is something that words cannot do justice, use your imagination and then double it.
After the cruise we stayed for dinner and a few drinks at Island Safari Lodge.
A very memorable evening all round.
We recommend this to everyone, so relaxing with the perfectly smooth water, so many animals and water lillies.
Wow, such an amazing diversity of wildlife nearby for you...once again thank you for sharing...if we are not careful your knowledge of birds will be far superior to ours. Different continent though.
