Ended up picking Guma Lagoon Camp.
Simon and Vanessa decided to join us.
It is about 300km from our place, at the top end of the Okavango Delta.
We headed off early, you go to Toteng (where I work) and continue to Sehithwa where you turn North on to the Shakawe road. You all know that way I am sure :-)
You turn off at Etsha 13, yes there is an Etsha 1, 2, 3 etc.
Then about 20km of sand 4X4 driving to reach the Camp.
The Road in to the camp
The Bar area.
The Girls enjoy a drink.
The Bar/Restaurant Area
The "Tents"
Sleeping in a tent is easy here!
The Shower
The rest of the en suite.
Rain storm reflection
The Nguma Lagoon gives some of the best reflection
you will ever see.
This amazing sunset/reflection shot was from the sunset cruise we
went on, hard to pick the sky from the reflection hey!

See if you can see the crocodile in this one.
Etsha 13
On the second day we drove further north, all the way to the Namibia Border, we did not go over, that is for another trip.
On the way back we stopped at "Crocavango", a crocodile farm that gives guided tours. We paid our 25 Pula each and had a 1 hour tour with our own guide.
This is their 5.5metre croc.
There is 700 1year old crocks in this enclosure.
We found this little guy on the road.
It is a Serrated Tortoise, they live in the desert.
A local Scarecrow
There is always a LOT of animals on the roads here.
Night driving is actually not advised outside of towns.
Usually the cows move off with a toot of the horn.......
Not this guy, stood his ground and I had to come to a complete stop before it moved.
Our cars look like they are in a Mitsubishi advert here.
The whole of this area is overrun with donkeys.
Have seen alot of written off cars from these guys.
1800 Pula for the accommodation, 3 course dinner, sunset cruise, and hot breakfast.
You can take your own drinks too.
Have to recommend this trip and camp, Great all round.
Get over here to see this and more!!!!!!!!!
Another interesting blog and great pictures, thank you. You have certainly found a peaceful and picturesque location for a getaway.
ReplyDeleteI hope the trip over will happen; just not this year!!!! I want to see all these things in real life (along with the Detective agency and the Garage! - from the book Ladies First Detective agency.) It looks so exciting - and different.
