Ghanzi..... on the way to Gaborone

It has been a while... been busy with all our trips and work.
We did a trip to Gaborone, the capital of Botswana.
The main "Highway" runs around the country so we decided to do an anticlockwise loop of the country.

First stop was Ghanzi (the G is silent so pronounced hanzi)
The lodge we stayed at was ok, more of a fenced farm with few animals, Kudu, Warthogs, Wilderbeast, and Eland (which we had not seen before).
Room was not to bad at all.
Food was interesting, there is a photo of the menu further down.
The highlight was the chameleon we found on the road on the way out. They get a bit grumpy when you go to pick them up, but it is all show.

It puffed up its throat and turned it orange to "scare" me off.

People keep them as pets here.

Some interesting choices for dinner.
I had the ostrich, Michelle had the gemsbok

Next stop, Gaborone, the "Big Smoke" for a taste of civilisation.

  1. He is so cute, beats the photo of the green tree frog on your finger at Sarina.

Did you both enjoy your meals...don't think I would be tempted with the warthog curry.
